Concrete Pavilion

A private residence shaped by light, landscape, and material honesty.

Concrete Pavilion was designed for a couple who ski in winter and entertain in summer, so the house had to work equally hard in both seasons. A single, long concrete roof plane shelters an open living pavilion at one end and a more enclosed bedroom wing at the other, joined by a glazed connector.

Radiant concrete floors and a full-height fireplace anchor the house through the cold months, while retractable glass walls open the living pavilion completely to the mountain air in July and August. The material palette — concrete, blackened steel, and raw oak — was chosen to age with the landscape, not against it.
